Overview
Emanuel von Baeyer works with a broad range of paintings, drawings and prints all of which are of the highest quality and often rare and distinguished examples. Areas of particular interest are: the School of Fontainebleau, 17th and 18th century Italian prints, the Prague court of Rudolph II and his artistic circle and German 17th century art. Interest in this fuelled work on the ‘Expressive Baroque’ period (a relatively recent field of study), a Central-European movement of the first half of the 18th century focussing on prints and drawings.
Recently French 17th and 18th century prints and drawings have been a central focus, as well as British art from the same period. German 19th century culture is also a fascinating area as it was constantly evolving and embracing movements such as early Romanticism, the Nazarenes, Biedermeier and Naturalism. Well-known names from these areas are represented alongside contemporaneous works from the French Romantics, Impressionists and fin-de-siècle artists.
Modern classics and the post-war period also feature as well as collaborations with particular contemporary artists.
Over the years we have sold a great number of works to the most notable museums and institutions in the UK, Germany, France and Switzerland, Czech Republic as well as North America, Asia and Australia. This selection should give an overview of the diversity of objects we are interested and dealing in.
