Signed and dated in pen and ink Sickert. 1901. Inscribed in pen and ink lower right and below The property of Blanche Countess of Airlie, Airlie Castle, [?] and La scuola di S. Marco.

The drawing dates back to the "so-called 'second' visit to Venice of 1900-1901" and is related to the painting with the same title now in the Yale Center for British Art, New Haven, Paul Mellon Collection (Baron 2006, p. 43, n. 162).
